Warning

I have clickable links to photos held in the Australian War Memorial collection. These links don't work! You have to pay $8.80 for each photo used in electronic form. [A bit of a pity for an amateur non-profit site, but I don't want to do the wrong thing].

Finding the photos: I have included the reference number for the photo or art work, so if you are particularly interested in seeing it, go to this page, and add the ref no in the "Enter Search Terms" box, and use the drop-down menu to place "First World War" in the Conflict box.

Hi
I have recently aquired a huge collection of personal postcards etc in an album all from one Soldier to his family members throughout the war Seems he was an avid postcard collector also with cards from all over Europe and egypt ranging from his departure NSW in 1915 to 1919 Most are to his immediate family Wife, Son, Mother etc all personal details and his life in the Army in France etc. 258 in total many very rare ones and one with a tree leaf from France in like a postcard book many interesting and unusual cards Did a little research and found 2 regiments he was either in or associated with one of some of his family were with 3rd Infantry Battalion 9th reinforcements just looked up his surname came up with that, also some cards say Sgt I think its H.Hillshaw 2 Pioneer Batt D.Company AIF. Some cards with troop ships RMS Osterly ... TSS Germanic Troopship A40 Transport 18th 19th Batt Reinforcements. Most cards are addressed to Miss A or J Asquith "Bolton" Gibbes Street Rockdale NSW. Too many others to list. Many silk stitched also. I think this Album should be or its contents show on display in a Military Museum. If anyone should be interested I could do some quick scans of all the pages although saying that it would take some time, I am now living in Thailand and the Album is with me.
I thought I would let you know first before I start listing it for sale online.
